One of the most incredibly addictive and wonderful vegan foods on the planet, A.K.A. carrot bacon. There are few things more satisfying and more delicious than hot-out-of-the-oven, fragrant carrot bacon strips, wedged between two slices of bread with lettuce and tomato…Seriously, you’re missing out if you haven’t made carrot bacon at least once in your life.
Making Carrot Bacon is So Easy!
A Step by Step
1. Peel several medium to large carrots into strips.
Peel one side of the carrot until you reach the core, then turn it over and peel the other side of the carrot. Do this until you have a decent amount of carrot strips.
2. Toss the carrots in a simple marinade (recipe below), and lay them out flat on a prepared baking sheet. Prepared baking sheets involve a lining of either a reusable silicon baking mat (as seen here) or parchment paper.
3. Bake the carrot strips in an oven at temperatures 425 degrees Fahrenheit, for 18 – 20 minutes, until the strips are tender. Turn the strips halfway through the bake, ensuring that you cook all the strips evenly by laying them relatively flat again after turning.
4. And there you have it: easy vegan bacon, completely plant-based and completely delicious. I’d recommend making a CBLT sandwich while the strips are still warm.
You can also store these in an airtight container in the fridge and reheat them for a couple seconds in the microwave.
The Marinade
The ingredients for the marinade are fairly simple and accessible: vinegars, olive oil, smoked paprika, maple syrup, liquid smoke and vegan Worcheshire sauce.
Where To Find Vegan Worcheshire Sauce
Vegan Worcheshire sauce might be a bit more difficult to find, and isn’t always listed on the bottles as vegan or not. Simply look for a brand of Worcheshire sauce without anchovies.
Worcheshire gives this vegan bacon a funkiness and umami flavor that pairs really nicely with the smokey paprika and liquid smoke. It also lends the strips of carrots a darker, more appetizing tint.
If you can’t find it, or don’t want to use it, you can leave this ingredient out. You also have the option to add something else in its stead, like coconut aminos.
Putting the CB in BLT!
Few things are better on this Earth than a good BLT, or in this case, a CBLT. This is my go-to, feel good sandwich that I make when I want something super tasty and also super easy.

Sounds like something I do often, but perhaps a tad less ingredients.

Yes, I love any and all carrot bacon. The first iteration that I made was just carrots, olive oil and salt – hard to beat that. Thanks for your comment and feedback.
