Let’s be honest here: everyone knows how to make a smoothie. Simply throw some moderately edible things in a blender and blend them, right? They’re quite hard to mess up (my condolences if you have). But this healthy orange creamsicle smoothie is different: it’s distinct and delicious, so much so that it’s worthy of a recipe all by itself!
And so, I wanted to shared this particular beverage with you not just so that you have a delicious and refreshing icy drink for the impending summer heat, but also so that you have the option to experience the uniqueness of a vegan creamsicle – in smoothie form!
So get out your blenders, fan your foreheads, peel your bananas and oranges, and prepare for a healthy orange creamsicle smoothie – a frosty treat.
A Healthy Orange Creamsicle Smoothie
To me, the orange creamsicle flavor is a special one; it reminds me of my childhood love of orange creamsicle pops – nostalgia incarnate.
What’s more is that this healthy orange creamsicle smoothie tastes much insalubrious than it actually is.
This healthy orange creamsicle smoothie, while distinct and delicious, still follows a lot of the conventions of traditional smoothiedome, such as
– Fresh fruits and/or veggies – orange, in this case;
– Plant-based milk – I’d recommend soy milk for this recipe, since it’s thicker and creamier than other plant-based milks. But really, any other plant-based milk will do, too;
– A creamy element – like either bananas and coconut yogurt, or both. There’s also the optional addition of garnishing the smoothie with Cocowhip, which adds another layer of creaminess, and look pretty on top, too;
– And of course, thoroughly blended together and popped in the freezer until slushy and cool and refreshing.
Creamsicle Ingredients
For this smoothie, you don’t really need any peculiarly bizarre ingredient. There will be no store scavenging the store or special ordering for this.
The most esoteric or out-of-the-ordinary ingredient is probably the coconut yogurt (either vanilla or lime flavored). I would recommend the So Delicious Coconut Yogurt – it’s excellent in smoothies, and it’s also easy to find in the refrigerated section of most stores.
Also, I suppose the garnish of Cocowhip is a bit of a fringe ingredient too, but it can be found in most grocery stores in the frozen section. It’s my favorite whipped cream substitute, and pretty hard to resist eating all by itself.
Get to blending!
If it’s a sultry summer day, this’ll help you through it.
Blend up an orange creamsicle smoothie, find a shady spot in the grass, and chill out!
